Man charged in Surrey SkyTrain shooting
Charges have been laid in the shooting of a Transit Police officer in Surrey last month.
Daon Gordon Glasgow, 35, was arrested last Sunday in Burnaby after the attack on the Scott Road SkyTrain platform that sent Const. Josh Harms to hospital with gunshot wounds to both arms and kicked off a five-day manhunt.
Harms has since been released from hospital.
He is expected to make a complete recovery.
On Tuesday, Surrey RCMP announced Glasgow, a Vancouver resident, has been charged with attempted murder using a prohibited or restricted firearm. He was also charged with discharging a restricted or prohibited firearm with the intent to endanger life, intentionally discharging a firearm while being reckless to the life and safety of other persons, and the unlawful possession of a loaded restricted or prohibited firearm.
Glasgow was previously convicted of manslaughter in the 2010 death of Terry Scott, not far from Scott Road Station. He was handed a nineyear prison sentence in 2011 and given a lifetime weapons ban. At the time of the shooting, he was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large.
“I am pleased to see this matter now before the courts where the administration of justice can begin,” said the RCMP assistant commissioner in charge of policing Surrey, Dwayne McDonald.
“Thank you to the hard work and dedication of our investigative team, assisted by numerous officers and staff within the detachment as well as other police agencies across the Lower Mainland.”
Police continue to investigate, and encourage anyone with additional information to contact Surrey RCMP.
