Nissan puts safety at forefront with its stylish 2020 Qashqai

- ALEX REID Driving.ca

The 2020 Nissan Qashqai made its debut at the Chicago Auto Show in early February, previewing the styling changes that will be implemented on next year’s model.

Building on the upgrades the Qashqai has received for 2019, the new exterior design helps differentiate the vehicle from its larger Rogue stablemate.

At the front, buyers will find a new “V-motion” grille and bumper with LED daytime running lights.

The rear has also been redesigned and 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels complete the exterior changes.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 will become standard across all Qashqai trim levels, including the base trim. This package includes basically all the safety features you could need. ProPilot assist will also be available for the 2020 model year.

On top of the new Qashqai, Nissan also brought a special-edition Pathfinder to the show.

Called the Rock Creek Edition, it has unique, dark 18-inch wheels, a black mesh grille to go with the various other black accents and trim pieces and a different lower-front fascia. The design is meant to look more rugged like some previous Pathfinders.

On the inside, the Pathfinder gets special two-tone seats, high-contrast stitching all around and premium metallic trim. The Rock Creek Edition also has a towing hitch and a 6,000-pound towing capacity.

Canadian pricing and availability have not yet been announced for either model.
