Avène DermAbsolu collection

- ALEESHA HARRIS

What it is: A four-product skin-care collection from the French brand Avène, the DermAbsolu range promises to provide “fundamental anti-aging care for sensitive skin.”

The collection includes a Recontouring Serum, a Day Cream, a Night Balm and a Youth Eye Cream.

The products feature a “unique combination” of active ingredients, including vanilla polyphenols (to boost the natural synthesis of hyaluronic acid), sytenol (an ingredient to help “restructure” cells) and glycoleol (an activator of lipid synthesis) to re-densify skin, contour the face and freshen the complexion, according to brand materials. What we say: This range of products provides a comprehensive approach to an anti-aging skin regime.

Our testers, a woman in her 30s and a woman in her 60s, were both pleased with the results yielded by products in the DermAbsolu range. The Recontouring Serum, which has a dropper applicator and a lotion-like consistency, absorbed quickly and felt comfortable on the face even when layered under products outside the Avène offering.

However, it was the rich Night Balm, housed within an easy-pump jar, that had our testers the most excited.

The product was nourishing without being too weighty. Skin felt smooth, soothed and hydrated post-use. It proved to be a perfect overnight salve to soothe winter skin.

Where to get it: Shoppers Drug Mart; beauty.shoppersdrugmart.ca What it will cost you:

$45.50 (eye cream) to $62 (serum).
