MACNEILL, Ethel Amelia

Nov. 15, 1926 - May 12, 2019

-

Survived by her loving husband of 67 years Allan Cameron MacNeill, son Bill (Adele) MacNeill, daughter Meg MacNeill, granddaughters Jennifer Edwards and Mary (David) Mackay, great grandaughters Isla, Lily and Pippa, her precious Boston Terrier, Cindy Lou as well as much-loved nieces and nephews.

Jen was born at the family home on Scott Street in Brampton, Ontario. The youngest of four, her love of animals and children was always evident. Of course, when she met Al, a veterinarian student at Guelph University, a perfect match was made. In 1955, Jen and Al settled into the Big White House in Marpole where they raised children and pets for over 60 years. Jen and her family spent summers boating on the Sea Poppy up and down the B.C. coast with All the pets in tow including guinea pigs and a crow. Gabriola Island became their refuge away from the city where they enjoyed the peacefully tranquility of Gulf Island life. She also contributed decades of her life as an active member of the Marpole Ladies Auxiliary for Pearson Hospital.

Jen was incredibly generous with her friends and was always the life of the party. Her sense of fashion, assisted by her love of shopping, ensured she was always turned out in great style. She was a devoted Mom, Granny and GranGran. We'll miss her kindness and humour so much.

Special thanks are given to the excellent staff at Sunrise Home and of Vancouver and UBC hospitals who provided care for Jen and support for her family.
