BAVIS, Janice Elizabeth

Aug. 17, 1967 - Apr. 23, 2020 Janice Bavis, dearly loved daughter of Roberta Bavis and James Bachop, sister to Carolyn Forsyth (Rob), aunt to Luke, Hailey and Liam, sister to Craig Bavis, sadly passed away on April 23. Her indomitable spirit led her to overcome many health crises in her life. She is now with her father Donald Bavis (Jean).

Janice is missed by her loving aunt Patricia Brandl, Grandma Chick Bachop and members of the Bavis, Bachop and Ross families.

Janice rose to the many challenges of Down Syndrome over the years to lead a full, rewarding and productive life. One of the first special needs students to be integrated in the 70's, she attended her local school and joined in many community activities. After graduation, she volunteered many hours at West Side Family Place, Arbutus Montessori, and her favourite place was Mt. Pleasant Family Centre where for almost 30 years she loved helping the children and was always eager to be a part of the singing circle. Janice was an active member of Joy Fellowship Church. She enjoyed the camps, church mission trips to New Zealand and the USA, participating in the Sign Language Choir and taking a part in the worship services.

She valued her friends and we cherish the unconditional love she gave making each of us better for it.

The family would like to thank her long time Cardiologist and friend, Dr. Huckell also Dr. Swiston, Lisa, Connie and Kelly at the Pumonary Hypertension Clinic and the caring staff at Vancouver General Hospital.
