DANBERT, Jean Doreen
August 11, 1938 - March 21, 2020
While it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Danbert on March 21,2020, we celebrate that she is finally with her Lord and her Dear Don. Mom was born in Edmonton to Asmund and Helga Hagen. After moving with her family to Victoria she finally settled in North Vancouver. She became a mother at a very young age and was faced with the sudden loss of both her parents shortly after her third child. She faced this adversity with grace and strength that she gained through her relationship with Jesus, something that remained a core part of her life up until her final moments. Mom was always listening to her favorite gospel music and hymns, remembering lyrics even as her memory started to fade.
Mom met the love of her life, Don in 1964 and married in 1967. They shared so many wonderful experiences together; raising her three children, building their boat Willsway and spending much of their free time sailing the Coast. Their greatest adventure began when they bought a lot on Natalie Lane in Halfmoon Bay, where they built their dream house that would be filled with laughter and memories for years to come. Spending mornings watching the waves crash against the shore and tending to hummingbirds, squirrels and her beloved dogs, Mom was blessed to spend retirement in an absolute paradise, creating a beautiful garden and hanging baskets like no one else could.Getting a chance to bake with Gramma at Christmas was also a special treat as her cookies were second to none. Her love for her family will be deeply missed.
Jean is survived by her son Randy Robertson (Elisabeth) Tiffany(Joel), Dustin, Lucas and Garet, daughter Sherry (Dan) Kennedy Courtney (Cole) and Alanna (Ryan) and daughter Lori (Ron) Johnson Treena, Brittany (Luke), Charity, Russel and Chantelle. As well as three stepchildren; Steve,Alan and Margaret, Mom had many Great Grandchildren (who provided such comfort in the last few years) Grand Dogs and special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, siblings; Ken Hagen, Joyce Millhouse and Harold Hagen, precious grandson Brandon Robertson and most recently, her beloved Don.
We would like to thank the staff on 1South,The Harrison at Elim Village for caring so deeply for Mom in her last few months. We also want to acknowledge some of the caregivers that stayed with Mom throughout all her transitions: Maureen, Felicia and Lakhwinder, we will be forever grateful for the time you spent reading devotionals and being a friend to Mom. Even when she couldn't articulate it, your presence meant the world to her, and to us.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkinson's BC or Covenant House. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to ensure Mom's family and friends can safely gather together and remember the beautiful life she lived. Mama, I'm so glad you got your hearts desire to finally "go home" .... "We are confident I say and prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord" 2 Cor 5:8
