RAMCHARITA, Frank D.

-

October 23, 1935 - April 5, 2020 Frank was born in Brothers Road and raised in Barataria, Trinidad and Tobago. He attended Fatima College and moved to Vancouver, Canada in 1957 to attend the University of British Columbia, graduating in 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics. Frank then furthered his studies and became a Registered Industrial Accountant (now CMA) leading to a long and productive career as an accountant in British Columbia's forest industry. Frank retired at age 55 but maintained a part time career in accounting with various small businesses in the Richmond, BC area. Mostly what he did though was golf, travel and spend time with his family and friends. Frank was the quintessential example of someone who came to Canada with nothing, worked hard, took no handouts and built a life for himself and his family, a family which now spans three generations.

His friends knew him as a gentleman, easy going and quick witted with a joke and always going the extra step to help out. His family knew him as Dad, a constant presence that guided us, took care of us and sacrificed his own comfort and luxury so that we could pursue our own dreams and ambitions. After a brief battle with cancer Frank passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Holly (nee Alisharan, graduate of Saint Joseph's Convent in Trinidad and of UBC), his children Leila (Patrick) and Roger (Mariya), and grandsons, Ben and Noah.

Perhaps the measure of a man's life is the number of people who miss him when he is gone. From all those who knew him as Frank, Franky, Uncle Frank, Mr. R., Pops, Dad and Grampy, we love and miss you.

"You ask how long I'll love you, I'll tell you true

Until the Twelfth of Never, I'll still be loving you"

A celebration of Frank's life will be held in 2021.
