NOVIX, Ernie Joseph

December 23, 1947 - April 12, 2020

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather at home in Chilliwack, surrounded by his family. Dad was predeceased by his mother Margaret, father Ernest, sister Shirley and brother Edward. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years and the love of his life, Fatima, children Angie (Mark), Shelley (Mike), Wes (Jorlyn), grandchildren, Brooklyn, Brittany, Destiny, Braden, Desirae, Brody, Olivia and Abby. He also leaves his sister Lorraine (Art) brother Louie, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Dad grew up in Minto, NB under hard times, moved to Montreal and worked at the Hospital where he met Mom and knew she was "the one." They married in 1967 and moved to BC in 1971 where they raised their family in Ladner. Dad worked for the City of Vancouver as a truck driver/equipment operator and loved his job until he retired after 31 years in 2003. They moved to Chilliwack and a new love was found... golf. They became snowbirds in Arizona where they golfed and made many life-long friends. He was a humble man; golfing was mostly for the social aspect, never about winning or losing. Even when he got his hole in one, Mom had to pry it from him. Dad also loved driving long trips, camping with family in the RV and working his garden. He was very social and would talk to anyone; his personality was hard to forget. With him you always had a good story or a laugh. Dad, we are so thankful to have had you in our lives. You taught us the value of education, working hard to achieve what you want and the importance of caring for those you love. You and mom were great examples of that; you made a great team. We will miss your sense of humour, your wisecracks, the vacuum being out at the end of our visits, delicious Christmas brunches and so much more. We had a wonderful childhood filled with great experiences and fond memories. You and mom always gave but never asked for anything in return… except our love. Dad we love you, you will forever be in our thoughts and hearts. You made us Novix strong! P.S. Don’t worry Dad, we will always be here for mom (we know, don’t tell me… show me!).
