‘To hell and back’
Jana Kramer launching relationship self-help book
Country singer/actress Jana Kramer is sharing the tough lessons she learned during her fight to save her marriage to Mike Caussin in a new self-help book.
The One Tree Hill star has always been open about their relationship woes, which previously caused the couple to split in 2016, when former American footballer Mike was caught cheating on Jana.
They subsequently reconciled and went on to welcome son Jace in 2018, a little brother for their now-fouryear-old daughter Jolie, but the pair has continued to suffer romantic ups and downs, which Jana and Mike have worked through with the help of therapy and their podcast, Whine Down.
Jana has since put pen to paper for a book called The Good Fight, in an effort to offer advice and support to others going through similar relationship troubles, although the idea initially didn’t sit well with Mike. “(At first) I was writing a book about my life and our relationship, and at the time we did a treatment that I gave to Mike,” Jana tells
People magazine. “He just ripped it up and was like, ‘You’re not releasing this.’ (He was) just full of shame, which I get (now). At the time I was like, ‘I want to help people.’ ”
Mike, who is now fully on board with
The Good Fight and even contributed to the work, explains, “We’re not trying to claim that we have it all figured out. We learned from clinical professionals that we’ve had in our lives steer us in the right direction. We have the tools. (The book) is vulnerable, it’s authentic, it’s direct, it’s funny, it’s passionate.”
Jana celebrated the book news on
Instagram as the couple marked its fifth wedding anniversary last Friday.
“We poured our hearts and souls into this book,” she captioned a snap of herself and Mike holding up a copy of The Good Fight. “This book shares our journey, our past, our pain, our triumphs, our darkest days, and all the lessons along the way. Mike and I share 2 different perspectives throughout the entire book and at the end of the day we truly hope this book helps those that want to grow, need encouragement, tools and a little silver lining.
“Today is our 5-year wedding anniversary ... we have been through hell and back, learned a lot along the way and still trying to do better each day, but no matter what we continue to fight The
Good Fight.”
The book is set for an autumn release.
