‘This is what I want you to do’

Sharon Stone posts ‘safe room’ tips amid protests

As protests rage across the United States, Sharon Stone is lending her support for people seeking to hide out in a safe room.

The Basic Instinct star, 62, posted a video to her Instagram page this week instructing followers how to take refuge if rioting gets a little too close for comfort.

“So, we’re in the middle of a riot. If you are anywhere near where you feel unsafe, and you’re home, this is what I want you to do. We’re going to make a safe room for you,” she began.

Stone urged followers to make sure they have all the essentials to ride out any unrest, including making sure the “safe room” was equipped with a computer, backup cellphones and chargers. As well, she encouraged fans to make sure they have an adequate supply of non-perishable foods.

She continued, “This is what you do, you make a safe place for yourself, don’t panic, and if you think you’re going to panic take any panic medications or anything you would like to have in there. Just have that place prepared for you and your family.”

Reaction was mixed, with actress Joely Fisher commenting, “Stay safe mama...love you,” while other fans seemed to be confused by her post.

“You lost your mind,” one follower said, with another remarking, “(People) are burning houses down. How’s that going to save (people) locking themselves up in their bathroom?”

One commentator also questioned Stone’s logic writing, “You’re in your bathroom and you need a cooler with water in it?”

Cities across America erupted in violence following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis last week after a white police officer pinned him to the ground with a knee on his neck.

Although she was quick with pointers on how people can batten down the hatches if need be, Stone concluded by urging her 2.1 million followers not to be “overreactive.”

“This will come and go like all things do. Ok? Alright.”
