Your guide to spring festivals, events at B.C.’s ski resorts
With longer days and plenty of sunshine, spring is a great time to take in popular festivals and events at some of B.C.’s ski resorts. Here are a few highlights.
MARCH 22-24
Kicking Horse Mountain Resort hosts the Steep Dreams Ski Mountaineering Festival, the only North American ISMF-certified race on the circuit.
MARCH 28-31
The Sun Peaks Sip, Savour & Ski Culinary Festival features dishes featuring locally sourced ingredients from Sun Peaks’ finest eateries, perfectly paired with artisanal brews, cocktails, and wines.
MARCH 30-31
Kimberley North Star Days celebrates spring with vintage ski gear, live music, beer gardens, a bestdressed dog competition, kids activities and more.
MARCH 29-APRIL 7
SilverStar’s popular SEISMIC Spring Mountain Festival celebrates mountain culture with 10 days of sport, music, arts, crafts, and culinary events.
APRIL 5-6
Altitunes, Canada’s most prominent mountain music festival, returns to Big White, promising a weekend celebration with live music, skiing, and outdoor activities.
APRIL 8-14
The World Ski and Snowboard Festival, Whistler’s annual celebration of snow sports, music, arts and mountain culture, offers a week of non-stop events and action on and off the slopes.
APRIL 13-14
Celebrate Fernival 2024, Fernie’s final weekend of skiing/riding, with live music in the plaza.
DEALS, DISCOUNTS AND PASSES
Many B.C. resorts offer deep discounts for spring skiing, lodging and even lift tickets. For instance, Sun Peaks’ Worldwide Reciprocal Season Pass program provides 50 per cent off alpine lift tickets from March 25 to April 7 to season pass holders from any alpine ski area or company worldwide. Big White’s Powder Card Spring Sale offers skiing from just $109 per day.
Vail Resorts Epic Pass holders can take advantage of extra days at partner resorts Fernie, Kimberley and Kicking Horse. And the Icon Pass is good for skiing at Revelstoke and Sun Peaks.
