Audi S3 shows off new 2025 look
Automaker upgrades sedan with styling tweaks, modest bump in power
Audi has announced upgrades to its 2025 Audi S3, which gains more power, some styling tweaks and torque vectoring for improved handling. The new model will launch in the second quarter of 2024. Canadian pricing isn't yet available, but by comparison, the 2024 S3 runs from $54,865 to $61,265 across its three trims, all of which feature Audi's Quattro all-wheeldrive.
The S3 uses a turbocharged 2.0litre four-cylinder engine that will make 328 horsepower and 309 pound-feet of torque, up from the current 306 hp and 295 lb.-ft — which will drop zero-to-100-km/h (-62-m.p.h.) acceleration times from 4.8 to 4.7 seconds. Top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155 m.p.h.). The turbocharger has been tweaked to keep a constant r.p.m. at low to medium acceleration, while the seven-speed automatic transmission shifts faster under full load for better performance.
Torque vectoring is now added, using an electronically controlled multiple-disc clutch on each driveshaft that distributes power between the rear wheels — the amount depending on the driving conditions and the driving mode that's been selected.
Those will now include a new “dynamic plus” mode, which will maximize torque to the rear axle, and then to the outside wheel on a curve. The “plus” mode will also increase the engine's idle speed to 1,300 r.p.m. for better acceleration off the line.
The S3's chassis and steering are retuned and there are larger ventilated front brake discs with new two-piston calipers. Other changes include a new rear bumper, new tail lights, flatter grille, new front spoiler and optional performance exhaust system. There will also be new colours, and, for the first time, an available matte grey exterior finish.
Inside, the 2025 S3 will include new available textured seat fabric, more ambient lighting, chrome steering wheel paddles and new features in the infotainment system, although we'll have to wait until closer to launch to see which ones migrate from the overseas model to what we'll be getting in Canada.
