Fire ban not lifted yet

Despite posts that are circulating on social media, the fire ban is still on in Welland. Fire Chief Denys Prevost confirmed the continuation of the ban on Friday. “The fire ban is not lifted,” he said. He said that the entire region is still under the burning ban that was put into effect earlier in the month. Although it has rained recently, it’s not enough to give the green light for burning. “We need significantly more rain. It’s far too dry.” Prevost said when the ban is actually lifted, the fire department will send out an official press release. No such release has been issued at this time and he said any information about the ban being lifted is either outdated or not coming from them.
