Ontario supporting upgrades and repairs at Niagara agencies

-

A group of Niagara-area community agencies is receiving some $450,000 in funding from the province to improve safety and accessibility for their clients.

The investment comes from Ontario’s Partner Facility Renewal program, which helps local agencies repair and renovate facilities to better serve people in the community. This support is also helping agencies ensure buildings meet improvements to Ontario’s Fire Code, in order to keep residents safe.

“These agencies provide critical services to the most vulnerable people in our community,” said St. Catharines MPP Jim Bradley in a media release announcing the funding. “This investment will help them make important safety upgrades and ensure that they are able to continue to provide people with safe, accessible places to go when they need support.”

According to the release, the funding is going to:

Community Living Fort Erie which will receive $42,600;

Community Living Grimsby, Lincoln and West Lincoln which will receive $150,500;

Community Living Port Colborne and Wainfleet which will receive $75,800;

Community Living Welland and Pelham will receive $16,000;

Niagara Training & Employment Agency will receive $75,000;

Niagara Support Services which will receive $35,200;

and Christian Horizons will receive $52,800.

Ontario is investing approximately $16 million under the Partner Facility Renewal program in more than 150 community service agencies for approximately 850 projects across the province, says the media release. Approved projects include upgrading accessible washrooms and kitchens; replacing windows and doors; replacing and repairing roofs, furnace and air conditioner replacement; expansion of program space and foundation repair.
