Jay-Z softens opinion on dad
Rapper talks about their relationship in video
Jay-Z’s anger toward his father has dissipated and now he can look back on their relationship with a different perspective. The 47-yearold rapper is a father of three; wife Beyoncé gave birth to twins Rumi and Sir in June.
Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, does some soul-searching in the videos accompanying the release of his new album, 4:44. In the latest, Footnotes of Adnis, he discusses his dad, Adnis Reeves. Jay-Z and his three siblings were raised by mother Gloria Carter after Reeves abandoned the family.

Meanwhile, Jay-Z opened up about his musical influences in an interview with Britain’s Metro newspaper, praising Coldplay frontman Chris Martin for his talents. Jay-Z collaborated with the band on 2008 track Lost+, and Beyoncé provided vocals for the group’s 2016 hit Hymn for the Weekend.
“I have been in the industry long enough to know when I’m in the presence of a genius, and Chris Martin is just that,” he told the newspaper.
“In years to come, Britain will look back at him as a modern-day Shakespeare. He is an incredible recording artist, an incredible songwriter, but where he really comes alive is performing live. If you get the chance to see Coldplay live, do it — you ain’t gonna regret it.” WENN
