Yellow Door Theatre Project is throwing itself a Summer Soiree.

The theatre training school for Niagara youth will hold a fundraising event at Stratus Vineyards on Monday, Aug. 21, and hand out four bursary awards in the process.

The bursaries, donated by Doug Rempel and Bosley Real Estate in Niagara-on-theLake, will allow the performers to train in the fall for an upcoming production of The Wind in the Willows.

Located in Virgil, Yellow Door was formed by Andorlie Hillstrom, formerly of Regina’s Do It With Class Young People’s Theatre. Since arriving in 2015, the company has staged gala productions of Peter Pan and The Little Prince. In June, young members of the company took part in the opening of the Shaw Festival’s children’s show, Wilde Tales.

Among Hillstrom’s former students in Regina Summer Soiree Stratus Vineyards, 2059 Niagara Stone Rd., Niagara-on-the-Lake Monday, Aug. 21, 7 p.m. $20, or $25 at the door; www. yellowdoortheatre.com

is Orphan Black star Tatiana Mislay, who recently won an Emmy Award last year for outstanding lead actress in a drama.

“We are so touched by the support of the community and indeed the region in making our past two seasons possible,” said Hillstrom.

The Soiree will include cabaret performances, and a sneak peek of The Wind in the Willows, adapted for the stage by Niagara’s Barb Worthy.

All proceeds will go towards Yellow Door Theatre Projects and programming.
