Instant classics from three beloved brands

When I think of the magic of perfume, I think of the movie Scent of a Woman and actor Al Pacino’s Oscar-winning portrayal of blind retired army officer Frank Slade. There’s a pivotal moment in the movie when Pacino’s character inhales deeply of a young woman’s perfume and gives a precise dissertation on the scent she is wearing before asking her out to the dance floor for that famous tango scene.

Imagine a fragrance carrying that much power! As do the following:

Obsessed with Calvin Klein: The new launch of Calvin Klein’s fragrance Obsessed pays homage to the brand’s iconic ’90s fragrance and its legendary campaign with supermodel Kate Moss and her then-boyfriend, photographer Mario Sorrenti. Obsession attained its illustrious status when Moss became the fragrance’s face (and body) in 1993 when she was only 18 years old, and Sorrenti, 20, shot her in the nude for the campaign.

Calvin Klein’s newest launch of the fragrance plays off this love story, featuring never before seen imagery from the campaign with Moss and Sorrenti. (The two were recently reunited to help celebrate this moment in fashion history.) Company officials say this groundbreaking and provocative imagery also revealed an obsession with both a subject and a medium.

“I was so passionate about photography, and Kate and I were in love. I loved photographing her. She was the closest person to me,” Sorrenti said via CK officials. “We were young, and I was never again so obsessed or so in love with photographing one person.”

With Obsessed for Women, a masculine structure is contrasted with feminine warmth as the fragrance is formed around a base of white lavender and a creamy musk. Obsessed for Men features notes of black vanilla and dark, dimensional woods that strengthen its sense of masculinity.

Available at Hudson’s Bay, Shopper’s Drug Mart, London Drugs, Jean Coutu.

Respecting the Boss: Especially when it’s the new fragrance from the iconic Boss Bottled portfolio. Boss Bottled Tonic is a masculine, fresh fragrance in an elegant blend of sophisticated notes of citrus, spices and woods to bring a lighter and refreshing dimension to the classic fragrance. Boss Bottled Tonic is captured in the classic flacon the fragrance is known for, now with a refreshing blue juice, to reflect its uplifting brightness and vibrancy.

Available at Hudson’s Bay, Hugo Boss Boutiques and Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Boutiques.

Heaven in a fragrance with Tiffany & Co.: A new fragrance created for Tiffany & Co. by world-renowned perfumer Daniela Andrier of Givaudan Fragrances. Company officials say the artisanal fragrance is the essence of Tiffany, a sparkling floral musk with vibrant top notes of zesty lime and subtle mandarin, followed by iris flower at the heart and delicate patchouli (a bushy herb plant from the mint family) notes at its base.

Many consider the scent both unexpected and timeless, much like the Tiffany brand. The faceted glass bottle, with a hint of delicate blue juice, is reminiscent of Tiffany jewels. In perfume, body lotion, body cream and shower gel.

The fragrance will be exclusively available at Tiffany Boutiques and Holt Renfrew as of September, and then widely available at Hudson’s Bay, Saks and Shopper’s Drug Mart as of October.
