American faces child porn charges in Niagara
A New York State resident faces charges in Niagara for allegedly importing child pornography into Canada.
On Friday the Niagara Regional Police Service internet child exploitation unit (ICE) took part in a joint Investigation initiated by members of the Canadian Border Services Agency assigned to the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls, says a media release from the NRP.
As a result, Roger Eugene Crawford, 57 of Dansville, N.Y., has been arrested and charged with possession of child pornography and importation of child pornography.
Crawford is in custody, pending a bail hearing to be held at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse, 59 Church St, in St. Catharines. The NRP is a member of the provincial strategy to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation on the internet and conducts investigations into internet child exploitation offences in partnership with numerous Ontario police services. The project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services. Members of the public can report suspicious internet activities relating to child exploitation to the NRP, or online at www.cybertip. ca. Internet safety tips for parents, children and Internet users are also available on the Cybertip website. Ontario’s 2016 Young Authors Award and the Louise de Kiriline Lawrence Award for northern literature. It spent twenty-six straight weeks on the national best-seller list, peaking at No. 1 in Canada.
The illustrated talk is presented by both the Legion and Pelham Public Library and will be held Sunday, October 22 at 2 p.m. There will be books for sale and signing.
