The latest buzz around the shows you’d never admit to watching
Dancing with the enemy?
If only Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Vanessa Lachey’s relationship was as smooth as their satin costumes. Rumour has it the Dancing With the Stars pair are feuding behind the scenes, which is apparently what led Chmerkovskiy to skip the show entirely this week, citing a “personal issue.”
A source told People magazine the pair (whose real-life spouses, Peta Murgatroyd and Nick Lachey, are also coupled up on the ABC dancing series) have been “bickering since week 1 and he finally just had enough of it.”
Thankfully, if there’s anything a professional ballroom dancer is better at than, um, dancing, it’s plastering a big, fake smile on their face. In other words: Maks will be back next week (Monday, ABC/CTV).
The Bachelor digs deep
We caught up with Montrealborn Bachelor Chris Leroux this week (The Bachelor Canada debuts Oct. 11 on W Network), and it’s safe to say he’s ready for love. The retired Major League Baseball pitcher says he’s had successful relationships in the past, but the timing hasn’t been right — until now, he says.
“I don’t want to say I haven’t been successful. People think that I’m helpless when it comes to (love). I think it’s mostly about timing with me. I’ve been so consumed by baseball and by making money that I almost forgot about the most important things in life. It’s good that baseball is on the back burner and I can really focus on my relationships with people.”
So does he find his future wife on the show? “I’m not allowed to tell you that,” he says. Hey, we tried.
J. Hud saves the day
Even if you botch your audition on The Voice, Jennifer Hudson is there. Or maybe that only worked for Stephan Marcellus. The 26-year-old New Jersey singer stumbled through his performance of Hozier’s Take Me to Church but still scored a spot on Hudson’s team because, well, she can relate.
“I was in that same position before,” Hudson told Marcellus. “You didn’t stop. You stumbled a bit but that voice was still there.” Yes, nerves are a thing.
But Hudson’s fellow mentors Adam Levine and Blake Shelton haven’t been so eager to take on a performer whose audition doesn’t wow them in the past.
“Jennifer is your hero, man.” Shelton told Marcellus. “She swooped down, she saved the day for you. Welcome to The Voice.”
