Triple just like Magic

- JEFF STEVENS

Jason Pendlebury is quietly having what is easily his best season in the Niagara 5-Pin Mixed Pro League so far.

The second-generation Pendlebury in the league backed up that fact as he lit up the lanes for a fantastic 889 (266, 327, 296) series to lead the Dale Mellway Life Insurance Magic to a 2-1 decision over the Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Town Criers.

Pendlebury was pushed along by Adam Eckhardt who added 650 (248, 229).

The Town Criers shot back with Chris Disher who tossed a stellar 785 (229, 312, 244) while Tim Dixon checked in with 744 (281, 258).

Elsewhere, in one of the closest matches in the league’s history, divided by only three pins, the Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Canucks edged the Lakeside Electrical Lightning 2-1.

Shawn Pellizari led the winners with a sparkling 826 (315, 214, 297) while getting help from Rob Fisher’s 785 (283, 264, 238) and Mickey Pikor’s 729 (245, 220, 264).

The Lightning were led by Tyler Wendel, who had the best individual performance of the evening, topping his own best set of the season with a lane-scorching 917 (376, 220, 321). Teammate Norm Stup contributed 672 (206, 280).

In another tight one, this one decided by a mere 24 pins, the Crossfire Wrestling Piledrivers took two of three from the Wine Place Whiners.

Chantal Papineau led the Piledrivers’ charge with a steady 752 (268, 247, 237), while Brian McFarlane was a model of consistency, contributing 650 (219, 217, 214).

The Whiners answered with Marc Papineau’s 706 (229, 269) and Sara Kennedy’s 659 (244).

In the evening’s final match, the Reggie’s Renovations Ltd. Hammerheads knocked off the Scorecard Harry’s Half Pints 2-1.

Paul Asselin took the reins for the Hammerheads, rolling 758 (279, 235, 244), while Jeff Stevens added 676 (239, 270).

The Half Pints were led by Rob Macdonald who rolled 715 (250, 272). Matt Kowalyk checked in with 677 (226, 249).
