Criers roll to sweep in 5-pin league

The Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Town Criers put in a full team effort in the Niagara 5-Pin Mixed Pro League as they hammered out a 3-0 whitewashi­ng of the Lakeside Electrical Lightning, rolling the second-highest team triple of the season, a stellar 3,154.

Leading the charge was P.J. Cole, who had his best night of the season, carding a super 853 (335, 329) set, while getting help from Tim Dixon who rolled a solid 800 (313, 259, 228).

The winners’ scoring was rounded out by Chris Disher who added 784 (271, 316), while Fern French checked in with 717 (299, 225).

The Lightning responded with Tyler Wendel, who showed why he is still sitting atop the men’s high average leaders, tossing 841 (245, 286, 310).

In other action, the Crossfire Wrestling Piledriver­s body slammed the Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Canucks 3-0. Chantal Papineau took the reins for the Piledriver­s, rolling a fantastic 853 (353, 256, 244) with Brian McFarlane not far behind, tossing 812 (308, 235, 269).

Wendy Bonnette rounded out the winners’ scoring with 659 (266).

Shawn Pellizari was a model of consistenc­y as he led the Canucks’ reply with 781 (258, 269, 254) while Rob Fisher added 754 (336, 222).

The Scorecard Harry’s Half Pints blanked the Dale Mellway Life Insurance Magic 3-0 on the strength of Rob Macdonald’s 715 (234, 250, 231) and Will Morrison, who added 670 (234, 245).

The Magic returned fire with Dave Pendlebury’s 672 (211, 256).

The evening’s final match was the only non-shutout match of the night, as the Reggie’s Renovation­s Inc. Hammerhead­s took two of three from the Wine Place Whiners.

Paul Asselin piloted his squad with a steady 763 (224, 229, 310), while Frank Newman backed him up with 709 (221, 252, 236).

The Whiners answered with Sara Kennedy’s 659 (215, 230) and Rich Vassos, who was right behind with 655 (234, 238).
