Brock sweeps Mac in men’s basketball
Badgers women’s team loses fourth in a row
Dani Elgadi led all players with 24 points and 12 rebounds as Brock defeated McMaster 89-73 to complete a sweep in a homeand-home series in men’s university basketball.
Fellow starters Cassidy Ryan, with 23, and Tyler Brown, 10, also scored in double digits for the Badgers as did Johneil Simpson, who contributed 14 off the bench in Saturday afternoon’s game in Hamilton.
Brock snapped a two-game losing streak to improve to a West Division-leading 10-2.
The Marauders, who dropped a 96-87 decision to the Badgers Nov. 24 in St. Catharines in the opening game of the season series, fell to 2-10.
Brock out-rebounded McMaster 56-50 and outscored their hosts 21-10 in points off turnovers.
Sasha Simic and David McCulloch led the Marauders with 16 and 14 points, respectively.
For the game, the Badgers shot 49.2 per cent from the floor, 31for-63; 27.8 per cent from beyond the three-point arc, 5-for-18; and 73.3 per cent from the free-throw line, 22-for-30.
The Marauders finished 27.4 per cent from the floor, 20-for-73; 24.2 per cent in three-point attempts, 8-for-33; and 64.1 per cent from the charity stripe, 25-for-39.
Brock returns to the court Friday in Sault Ste. Marie for the first of back-to-back games against Algoma. Tipoff for both games is 8 p.m.
Next home game for the Badgers is Saturdaym Jan, 20, when they welcome Windsor to Bob Davis Gymnasium for an 8 p.m. tipoff.

At Hamilton, visiting Brock shot just 27 per cent from the floor and finished 0-for-13 from beyond the three-point arc losing its fourth in a row in women’s university basketball.
Kristin Gallant and Baellie Campbell paced the Badgers in scoring with 14 and 11 points, respectively. Stephanie Findlay, with 12, and Courtney McPherson,10, were top rebounders for the Badgers, who fell to 4-8.
Lexie Spadafora, with 18 points, Linnaea Harper, 17, and Jelena Mamic, 14, reached double digits in scoring for the Marauders.
McMaster, 8-4, beat Brock for the second time this season. A homeand-home series between the West Division rivals tipped off with a 7061 Marauders victory Nov. 24 in St. Catharines.
The Badgers are in Sault Ste. Marie Friday and Saturday for night games against the Algoma Thunderbirds.
