Public input required for east Fenwick plan

- TRIBUNE STAFF

Pelham residents are invited an information session next weekend on a plan which will define the vision for east Fenwick

The East Fenwick Secondary Plan will guide future growth and development in the area of Balfour Street to the west, Memorial Drive to the north, Cream Street to the east and Welland Road to the south as it takes into consideration the character of the area and is consistent with provincial, Niagara Region and local planning policies and legislation, the town said in a release.

It’s the third public session on the plan. Town staff and consultants will provide updates and summaries on its process, objectives and input received to date. They will also summarize and explain the land use plan study area.

“The consultants have engaged the community throughout the process through a variety of ways, and have received valuable input to date. Following this public consultation session, the consultants will be working on the writing the policies that will provide the guiding framework for the implementation of the plan,” said Barbara Wiens, Pelham’s director of community planning and development, in the release.

The plan has been discussed by staff, consultants and residents since June 2017, starting with a visioning workshop followed by a design workshop. During those workshops, residents had the opportunity to have their say.

Following next weekend’s session, the consultant team will work with town staff and the east Fenwick steering committee to finalize the land use policy for the area.

The session takes place Saturday 10 a.m. to noon at the Fenwick fire hall at 766 Welland Rd.
