A Party of Five reboot is in the works

Original series’ creators Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman are developing a new family drama, which will centre on the Mexican-American Buendias siblings, who are left to fend for themselves after their parents are deported to Mexico.

The original 1990s show starred Scott Wolf, Matthew Fox, Neve Campbell, and Jennifer Love Hewitt and focused on the five Salinger siblings, who were left orphaned when a drunk driver killed their parents in a car accident.

The hit series ran from 1994 to 2000 and spawned a spin-off, titled Time of Your Life, which starred Hewitt.

Keyser and Lippman will write the pilot and executive produce, while Rodrigo Garcia is set to direct. The new show will air on the U.S. cable network Freeform.

Paul Bettany to play older version of Prince Philip in The Crown

Paul Bettany is reportedly set to take over the role of Prince Philip in season three and four of The Crown.

The second series of Netflix’s royal drama screened last month, and served as the last outing for the current cast, including Claire Foy and Matt Smith as a young Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

It’s expected the third series will be set in the ‘70s, and writer Peter Morgan has decided to cast older actors to take on the lead roles, rather than use CGI and prosthetics to age the current cast.

Olivia Colman has been confirmed to play the Queen, with Daily Mail journalist Baz Bamigboye reporting A Beautiful Mind actor Paul Bettany will portray her husband.

“#PaulBettany in negotiations about possibility of him portraying #PrincePhilip in @TheCrownNetflix in season three & four. No deal yet but talks are ongoing,” he tweeted.

The news comes days after actress Vanessa Kirby, who has played Princess Margaret in season one and two of the royal drama seemingly confirmed Helena Bonham Carter would be replacing her.

Uploading a photo of her and Carter, she simply captioned it: “Honoured @thecrownnetflix.”

Writer Morgan is planning to tell the British monarch’s story over six seasons in total.

Gabrielle Union stars in NBC Bad Boys II spin-off

Gabrielle Union’s Bad Boys TV spin-off has been picked up by network bosses at NBC.

Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, the untitled project centres on Special Agent Syd Burnett, the character Union played in 2003’s Bad Boys II, as she relocates from Miami to Los Angeles, according to Deadline.

Burnett was the sister of Martin Lawrence’s character in the Bad Boys sequel, who romanced Detective Lieutenant Mike Lowrey, played by Will Smith.

Her movie castmates are not expected to appear in the TV series.
