Thorold man arrested in cross-border child porn case
A local man is in police custody after a child pornography investigation that began in Utah resulted in a raid on a Niagara home.
Niagara Regional Police say in November the Davis County Sheriff’s Office and the county’s Attorney General’s Office in Farmington, Utah, received a complaint through the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children about the activity of two users on a “popular online messaging platform.”
In October, the Utah authorities arrested Dr. Nathan Ward, a 55-year-old OBGYN, and 41-year-old Robert Edwin Francis on child porn charges.
The investigation by Utah police continued after the arrest, including a probe into the men’s contacts and child pornographic materials shared online.
In December, Utah police contacted the NRP asking for help in investigating a Niagara resident connected with their investigation.
That investigation led police to a Thorold home, which was raided on Wednesday.
Police said they seized several computers and media storage devices which were examined forensically. On the same day, NRP officers arrested Marc Seguin, 37, of Thorold.
He faces possession of child pornography, accessing child pornography, and distributing child porn charges.
