Niagara Parks’ concert series seeking bands

- JOHN LAW NIAGARA FALLS REVIEW

It’s almost time for live music near the mist.

Niagara Parks has put the call out for bands to play this summer’s outdoor Coca-Cola Concert Series. The free series offers concerts nearly every night in July and August at Queen Victoria Park near the Horseshoe Falls.

Interested bands have until March 7 to apply online at niagaraparks. com/events.

The series offers a mix of local and Canadian acts. Submissions should “reflect the cultural and artistic landscapes of Ontario,” says Niagara Parks in a release.

Last year’s series featured acts including upcoming Ottawa star Michelle Treacy, along with Niagara performers Ashlynne Vince, Groovy Food, Beth Moore and Avenue Inn.

Avenue Inn bassist Jake Rose says it has been an “amazing experience” to play the summer series the past three years.

“We enjoy it every single year as we play right across from the Falls in front of thousands of tourists passing by, who genuinely enjoy listening to live music,” he says.

“It is a platform for exposure for sure, as many listeners did follow us on social media afterwards, as well as an opportunity to represent our city through the arts, which we are all incredibly proud of.”

Performances run 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., followed by fireworks.

Artists were paid for their performances in 2017.
