Rookie leads the way in 5-pin win

Sara Kennedy and Norm Stup picked a fine time to click in the Niagara 5-Pin Mixed Pro League as they both had an excellent night to lead the Wine Place Whiners to a 3-0 blanking of the Reggie’s Renovation­s Inc. Hammerhead­s.

Kennedy, the rookie transplant from Newfoundla­nd, holds down second spot in the ladies high average category, and she and led the way for the winners with a fantastic 859 (274, 302, 283) while Stup clicked for his best night of the season, firing a scorching 823 (306, 213, 304). P.J. Cole chipped in with 711 (263, 241, 207).

Jeff Stevens led the Hammerhead­s reply with 783 (262, 290, 231) while Paul Asselin backed him up with 677 (221, 278).

In another lopsided win, the Lakeside Electrical Lightning shut out the Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Town Criers 3-0. Tyler Wendel took the reins for the Lightning, carding a fine 788 (283, 313), while being helped along by Shawn Pellizari’s 722 (283, 233).

The Town Criers shot back with Rich Vassos’ 662 (248, 217).

Rob Macdonald continued his excellent rookie season as he again connected for a great set, firing an 855 (350, 224, 281) to spark the Scorecard Harry’s Half Pints to a 2-1 win over the Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Canucks.

Adam Eckhardt was to be heard from as well as he had his best night of the year, a sparkling 809 (296, 321) while Mike Owen contribute­d 683 (237, 225).

Firing back for the Canucks were Rob Fisher, who tossed a superb 833 (315, 299, 215) while Dave Pendlebury checked in with 728 (260, 248, 220).

In the evening’s final match, the Dale Mellway Life Insurance Magic whitewashe­d the Crossfire Wrestling Piledriver­s 3-0. Matt Kowalyk paced the winners with 712 (261, 263) while Brian McFarlane followed closely with 696 (284, 221).

The Piledriver­s replied with John Wendel who tossed 631 (241).
