Christmas was three months ago, but a new TV movie filming in Niagara-on-the-Lake next month is looking for extras with some holiday spirit.

Under the working title “Holiday Calendar,” production will be filming in various locations from April 2 to 13. Cast North Productions has put the call out for 400 local extras, of all ages, who will be paid for their time.

“It’s a typical feel-good Christmas movie,” says Cast North president Micheline Blais. “If you’ve ever wanted to be in a movie, now is your opportunity.”

Extras of “all ages, shapes, ethnicities” can submit a photo and contact info via email to cncalendarcasting@gmail.com or online at www.castnorth.com.

For shooting on April 2, several ice skaters are needed for an outdoor scene in a park. Crowd scenes will be required April 9 to 12.

“If people are curious to find out how we do a skating scene when spring happens, they would want to be on our set,” says Blais.

Production will film two weeks in Niagaraon-the-Lake, then move to North Bay for two weeks.

While Blais cannot yet announce the film’s cast or where it will be broadcast, she said it’s the same production company which filmed scenes in Niagara-on-the-Lake last year for the Netflix movie “Christmas Inheritance,” starring Eliza Taylor and Jake Lacy. That film also shot portions in North Bay.

Blais says an in-person casting call could be announced this week depending on the response to online submissions.

It likely won’t be the last time Blais is seeking extras in Niagara-on-the-Lake — the scenic town has always been a popular location for Christmas-themed movies. “Holiday Calendar” is no different.

“It’s a family-friendly film with Christmas content,” she says. “That picturesque, beautiful smalltown Christmas movie.”
