Grecco seeks ‘get out of jail free card’

-

RE: GRECCO’S PAROLE REQUEST HAUNTS VICTIM, MARCH 17, BY GRANT LAFLECHE

Here we go again, probably another “get out of jail free card” thanks to the parole board; this time it’s for an ex-priest/child molester Donald Grecco.

Justice Joseph Nadel said, he “regretted” not giving Grecco a longer sentence. What stopped you? Apparently, there was some bargaining with the child molester (which did not include the victims) in exchange for his guilty plea so as to not waste time and money for the community. Well, I beg to differ. Our politicians and bureaucrats regularly waste taxpayers’ money on bad decision-making. The money spent on this case would have been well worthwhile. Unfortunately, the years of trauma that these young boys (now adults) went through are ignored.

It’s bad enough that the court handed out only an 18-month prison term for Grecco’s crimes; then the parole system makes it possibly worse for the victims and their families with a chance of parole after only serving six months in jail.

Unfortunately, our various levels of government at times don’t seem to hold much value for victims of crime and their families when courts and the parole board continue to show more compassion for the criminals than the victims.

We all know who Judas was at the last supper. Well, throughout the history of the church, there have been many Judases dressed as priests. Not only have some of these priests sinned against boys and girls, but also in the eyes of God. I wonder what sentence He will hand out on the other side.
