Shawn Pellizari shines in 5-pin spotlight

- JEFF STEVENS

Heading down the home stretch of the 2017-18 Niagara 5-Pin Mixed Pro League season, some bowlers are bringing their “A” game when it is needed.

For the second week in a row, Shawn Pellizari has lit up Pla Mor Lanes. One week after rolling his personal-high 905 series, he again eclipsed the 900 plateau, tossing a fantastic 910 (265, 276, 369) to lead the Lakeside Electrical Lightning to a 3-0 pasting of the Wine Place Whiners.

Pellizari had some help from Tyler Wendel’s 702 (259, 209, 234).

The Whiners returned fire with P.J. Cole’s 721 (254, 256, 211) and Norm Stup’s 705 (215, 220, 270).

Elsewhere, Brian McFarlane took the reins for the Dale Mellway Life Insurance Magic as they took two of three from the Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Canucks. McFarlane posted a stellar 841 (271, 250, 320) set to pace the winners, while being pushed along by Joanne Durocher, who carded 696 (222, 268).

The Canucks replied with Rob Fisher’s 785 (243, 291, 251) and Trish Aubertin, who added 666 (249, 235), as well as Dave Pendlebury, right behind with 665 (221, 258).

Paul Asselin once again fired up his team, throwing a solid 810 (341, 230, 239) to lead the Reggie’s Renovations Inc. Hammerheads to a 3-0 blanking of the Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Town Criers.

Wendy Bonnette added 647 (286) for the winners and Chris Disher threw 662 (275) in response for the Town Criers.

In the night’s final match, the closest one of the evening, decided by only nine pins, the Crossfire Wrestling Piledrivers edged the Scorecard Harry’s Half Pints 2-1.

Chantal Papineau, fresh off her Easter weekend successful title defence as the Ontario ladies provincial singles champion, led the winners with a steady 765 (216, 268, 281), while John Wendel added 640 (254, 244).

The Half Pints answered with Mickey Pikor’s 643 (250, 219).
