Niagara gymnasts compete at provincial­s

Twelve girls from Niagara who train out of Gymnastics Energy in St. Catharines had top-10 finishes at the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Ontario Championsh­ips earlier this month in Windsor.

Level 8, all-around: Jasmine Griese, Lincoln, age 11-12, 4th overall, earned a spot on Team Ontario for Eastern Canadian Championsh­ips in May.

Level 7, all-around: Elizabeth Baker, St. Catharines, age 14, 8th overall, received special award for “mastery of floor artistry;” Emi Suzuki, Niagara Falls, age

11, 5th overall, special award on vault for “flight, height and tight;” Jia DiRenzo-Baty, St. Catharines, age 16-plus, 9th overall; Emilie Hamilton, Ridgeville, age 16-plus, 2nd vault, 3rd bars, special award on bars for “fly sky high;” Charlotte Benner, St. Catharines, age 12, 7th floor. Level 6, all-around: Brianna Crocco, St. Catharines, age 12, 7th vault; Kelsie Czegeny, Lincoln, age 14, 9th floor; Chloe McIntyre, St. Catharines, age 11, 10th beam, bars; Natalie Wood, St. Catharines, age 11, 5th bars.

Level 7, event finals: Jazmine Deveau, 4th bars; Jia DiRenzo-Baty, 4th beam; Emilie Hamilton, 7th bars; Elizabeth Baker, 8th floor.
