IceDogs forward playing for Canada in Russia

Niagara IceDogs right winger Akil Thomas has been added to the roster of the team competing for Canada at the world under-18 hockey championship now underway in Russia.

The highly-touted sophomore – Thomas is projected to be selected in the first round, 15th overall, in the NHL Draft in June – had 22 goals and 59 assists in 68 games in league play in his second season in the Ontario Hockey League. He added five goals and six assists in 10 playoff games.
