As the deadline draws closer, he becomes ever more unsure if he is ghost writing a memoir, or if Heidl is rewriting him — his life, his future.

Glimpse, Jonathan Maberry. Rain Thomas is a mess. After three years clean, she borrows reading glasses to review her resume and her life starts to spin out of control as she begins to see things and lose chunks of time.

Wonderbloo­d, Julia Whicker. In the city of Cape Canaveral, the royal establishm­ent is steeped in excess, and science has been corrupted into a blood-soaked religion. When an outcast girl is captured by a self-styled prophet and warlord, she is thrust into his violent designs on the throne. Then two strange lights appear in the sky. Varina, Charles Frazier. Her marriage prospects limited, Varina Howell agrees to marry mucholder widower Jefferson Davis, with whom she expects the secure life of a Mississipp­i landowner. Davis instead pursues a career in politics and is eventually appointed president of the Confederac­y, placing Varina at the white-hot centre of one of the darkest moments in American history.

Sarah, by Orson Scott Card. Sarah was a child of 10 years, wise for her age but not yet a woman, when she first met Abram. He appeared before her in her father’s house, filthy from the desert, tired and thirsty. But as the dirt of travel was washed from his body, the sight of him filled her heart. And when Abram promises Sarah to return in 10 years to take her for his wife, her fate was sealed.

Non-fiction

Harry: Life, Loss, and Love, by Katie Nicholl. On the eve of his wedding, this new biography explores Prince Harry’s familial relationsh­ips, his romance with Meghan Markle, and features interviews with friends and former palace aides.

North: Finding my Way while Running the Appalachia­n Trail, by Scott Jurek. At the end of his career as an ultrarunne­r, Jurek set out to tackle an elite goal: Breaking the speed record for running the Appalachia­n Trail that extends from Georgia to Maine.

A Forest in the Clouds, by John Fowler. An inside account from a research student at the remote gorilla camp of Dr. Dian Fossey a few years prior to her murder in 1985.

Return of the Sea Otter, by Todd McLeish. McLeish, a science journalist, presents the story of the lovable Pacific coast animal that has returned to viability after near extinction in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Get Money, by Kristin Wong. This book, written by a personal finance expert, turns managing money into a gamified guide into living the life you want, not just the life you can afford.
