One-hole playoffs needed to decide winners

There were four flights competing in a Niagara District Junior Golf Tour stop at Rockway Vineyards Friday in St. Catharines, and playoffs were needed to decide two of them.

Matt Gibson needed one hole to defeat Andrew Scott after both topped the leaderboar­d five-overpar in the under-17/under-19 boys division with a 77.

Only one hole was needed to make John Kingdon the winner over Michael Martel in the under-13 boys flight. Both carded 19-over-par 91s after 18 holes. Bradyn Wark edged Matthew Martel by one stroke, 79-80; in under-15 boys, and Emily White shot finished with a 77 for a sixstroke victory over Payton Bennett in the under-19 girls division. Following are the top five finishers in each flight:

Boys, under 17/under 19: 1. Matt Gibson, 77; 2. Andrew Scott, 77; 3. R.J. Derhodge, 78; 4. Charlie Jeffries, 79; 5. Blake Pingue, 79. Girls, under 19: 1. Emily White, 77; 2. Payton Bennett, 83; 3. Megan Miron, 86; 4. Mya Mackey, 111; 5. Anna Emond, 115.

Boys, under 15: 1. Bradyn Wark, 79; 2. Matthew Martel, 80; 3. Sammy Rootes, 84; 4. Isaiah Ellis, 86; 5. Benjamin Hebert, 89.

Boys, under 13: 1. John Kingdon, 91; 2. Michael Martel, 91; 3. Nicklaus Mooradian, 101; 4. Levi Moyer, 102; 5. Elliott Christophe­r, 113.
