Sun Devils can’t be exorcised in junior elite division

Steven Phillips leads bantam Longhorns with four touchdowns

Gabe Loiselle and William Shultz scored two touchdowns and added two points each on conversion­s to lead the Sun Devils past the Gamblers 44-7 in the Niagara Regional Minor Football Associatio­n’s junior elite division.

Mason Arbic, with a touchdown and three one-point converts; and Anthony Gomez, touchdown, two-point conversion; also scored for the Sun Devils in the game played on the turf at Kiwanis Field in St. Catharines.

Chris Long scored a converted touchdown for the Gamblers.

Tanner Pirson was a standout on defence for the Gamblers with two intercepti­ons.

Bantam

Steven Phillips was one Longhorn who couldn’t be corralled in Football Niagara bantam action Sunday.

He scored four touchdowns to help the Fort Erie Longhorns clip the St. Catharines Seahawks 36-34.

Kody Macrae scored a touchdown and Kaiden Craft two, twopoint conversion­s for Fort Erie which also scored a team safety in the nail-biter.

Quinn Johnson, with three touchdowns; Deondre Forde, two touchdowns, two-point convert; and Joshua Kaufman, two-point convert; accounted for the St. Catharines scoring.

In the other bantam game, the Welland Tiger-Cats earned their stripes with a 27-12 victory over the Niagara Falls Argonauts.

Brian Mauvais, with two; Tate Donovan and Colton Kizlyk, one each; scored touchdowns for the Ticats.

Kizlyk rounded out the Welland scoring with two, two-point converts.

Aden Martinez and Connor McKee found the end zone with majors for Niagara Falls.

Peewee

Welland completed a sweep of Niagara Falls when the Ticats beat the Argonauts 28-25 in the peewee game.

Dylan Dellemonac­he, with two; Nick Jokic and Ben Tsano, one apiece; scored touchdowns for Welland. Thomas Alexander added two, two-point converts in his team’s victory.

Providing points for Niagara Falls were Clayton Wilem, three touchdowns; and Julian Mangiacasa­le, touchdown, one-point converts.

Max Heron scored two touchdowns and Andre Hoffman one as the Fort Erie Longhorns shut out the St. Catharines Seahawks

in other peewee action Sunday.

Atom

St. Catharines Seahawks teams averted being on the broom end of a sweep to the Fort Erie Longhorns with a 16-12 win in the atom division.

Josh Savoie, touchdown, onepoint convert; and Dhabi Williams, touchdown; scored for St. Catharines.

Jordan Payne and Palm Smith replied with majors for Fort Erie.

The atom Niagara Falls Lions downed the West Niagara Steelers 27-9, thanks to two touchdowns from Lucas Panucci and one each from Marco Angelini and Blake McKinnon.

Easton Thomas made a threepoint convert for the Lions.

Aiden Keus, touchdown; and Matt McDevitt, three-point convert; scored for West Niagara.
