Win lifts bantam Generals to .500

Niagara defeats Brampton to even record at 1-1; atoms improve to 2-0

Nolan Banga and Jackson Stewart each scored two touchdowns to help the visiting Niagara Generals defeat the Brampton Bulldogs 35-12 in the Ontario Football League’s Tier 1 bantam division.

Quinn Johnston and Justin Savoie, one touchdown apiece on offence; and Jack Wilson, a 20yard intercepti­on return for a touchdown; also scored majors for the Generals.

Niagara, 1-1, hosts Cambridge in a 5 p.m. kickoff Saturday at Kiwanis Field in St. Catharines.

Nick Longo, with a touchdown, two-point convert; and Stewart, touchdown; put points on the scoreboard for the Generals in a 20-14 loss to Durham in the home opener.

Niagara’s Tier 2 bantam team fell to 1-1 with a 48-0 road loss to the Vaughan Rebels.

Nick Jokic threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns, both to Ben Magiclic, in a 12-2 victory over the TNT Express in Week 1 of the regular season.

Peewee

A 51-0 road loss to the Hamilton Jr. Tiger-Cats dropped the peewee Generals to 1-1 in league play.

Niagara blanked Durham 6-0 in the home opener the week before. Scoring informatio­n was not submitted.

Up next for the Generals is a noon kickoff Saturday at Kiwanis Field versus Burlington.

Atom

In atom action, running back Ezekiell Langendoen rushed for three touchdowns, quarterbac­k Cameron Kotyk threw for one touchdown, ran for two others and scored three converts, and visiting Niagara blanked Hamilton 61-0.

The Generals also received scoring from Loxdyn Raducanu, two touchdowns, convert; Benji Kolodziejc­zak, touchdown; and Brett Hall, convert; as they improved to 2-0.

Hamilton failed to make a first down in the loss.

Hall, Kolodziejc­zak, Kotyk, Langendoen and Raducanu each scored a touchdown in a 45-25 defeat of Durham in the season opener at home.

Niagara is back in action Saturday hosting the Cambridge Lions. Kickoff at Kiwanis Field is set for 9 a.m.
