Generals end football season on the road

Niagara teams go 2-2 to close out league play

Niagara Generals teams went 2-2 to close out the Ontario Football League regular season.

Ezekiel Langendoen led the Niagara atoms with five touchdowns and three converts in a 58-6 victory over the host Waterloo Predators.

Carter Smith and Benjamin Kolodziejc­zak, each with a touchdown and adding a two-point convert; Ethan Tice, touchdown; Jak Buckland, two-point convert; and Spencer Macrae, one-point convert; rounded out the scoring for the Generals.

Smith’s touchdown was on a punt return.

Niagara’s second win in a row improved the team’s record to 4-4 heading into the post-season.

Niagara defeated the Vaughan Rebels 18-8 ending a two-game losing streak to end the peewee season with a 3-5 record.

Braiden Genest, Cameron Macrae and Jake Portolesi scored touchdowns for the Generals.

“Bring on the playoffs, my boys are ready,” head coach Bruce Macrae said. “Our team came together great, I am so proud of them all.”

Visiting Niagara dropped a 41-7 decision to the Hamilton Jr. Tiger-Cats to end the Tier 1 bantam season with a 2-6 record.

Jackson Stewart threw a touchdown pass to Nick Longo and Ryan Broome scored a convert as the Generals dropped its third game in a row.

Mason Smith’s first career touchdown accounted for all Niagara’s scoring in Tier 2 bantam season-ending 48-6 loss to the Brantford Bisons.
