Panthers edge B’s to return to win column
What a difference a day makes. Just ask the Pelham Panthers. One night after netting three goals on 63 shots in a loss, the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League team was a model of efficiency scoring three on 27 shots in a win.
Michael Marchesan scored two goals and Matt Ruigrok one in a 3-2 road victory over the Hamilton Kilty B’s.
Brandon McCorriston made 33 saves as Pelham ended a fivegame losing skid to improve to 10-6-0-1 in the junior B league’s Golden Horseshoe Conference.
Both teams finished Monday night’s game 0-for-4 on the power play.
Hamilton’s first loss in four games dropped the Kilty B’s to 11-4, four points behind the conference- and league-leading Niagara Falls Canucks, 13-1, and one ahead of Pelham.
Hamilton has two games in hand on the Panthers.
On Sunday night, Pelham dropped a 4-3 decision in overtime despite outshooting the host Welland Jr. Canadians 63-26.
Only game on the Golden Horseshoe schedule Tuesday night had the St. Catharines Falcons, 10-3, hosting Niagara Falls at Jack Gatecliff Arena.
