Brutes hand Hammerhead­s first loss

The Ontario Street Boston Pizza Brutes are gearing up for a stretch run as the Niagara 5-Pin Mixed Pro League heads into the final four weeks of the first segment of the season.

The Brutes improved their lot as they blanked the Reggie’s Renovation­s Inc. Hammerhead­s 3-0.

Brian McFarlane took the reins for the Brutes rolling a steady 727 (303, 245) while getting pushed along by Jordan Gravelle’s 704 (267, 243) and Joanne Durocher, who was right behind with 693 (255, 242).

The Hammerhead­s fought back with Valerie Vallee’s 646 (218, 252) and Jordan Terry’s 642 (234, 222).

In other matches, the previously undefeated Dale Mellway Life Insurance Magic lost their first match of the season dropping a 2-1 decision to the Wine Place Whiners.

The Whiners were sparked by Rob Macdonald’s 704 (273, 268) and Mickey Pikor’s 689 (246, 248).

The Magic answered with Dave Pendlebury’s solid 729 (262, 228, 239) and Paul Asselin, who checked in with 708 (221, 270).

The Scorecard Harry’s Half Pints took two of three from the Lakeside Electrical Lightning.

Shawn Pellizari had the hot hand for the Half Pints, tossing 726 (261, 281) while getting help from Shaun Feere who added 611 (244).

The Lightning replied with Tyler Wendel’s 704 (263, 241, 200) and Adam Eckhardt’s 687 (231, 232).

The Oh Canda Eh Dinner Show Town Criers whitewashe­d the Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Canucks 3-0 in the evening’s final match.

The Town Criers were led by Brad Maurice, who paced the squad with 729 (275, 264) while Rob Fisher checked in with 682 (228, 244).

Matt Vendittell­i led the Canucks’ response with 547 (219).
