Walk-in mental health help for youth expands at Pathstone
Walk-in mental health counselling for children, youths and their parents is expanding.
Beginning today, the Hear & Now Walk-In Clinic at Pathstone Mental Health will be available five days a week. It had previously been available three days a week.
The clinic offers immediate, one-on-one mental health counselling.
When the Niagara community called for increased mental health services, Pathstone Foundation, the organization’s fundraising arm, made a plea to donors, said Kim Rossi, director of philanthropy and public relations.
Support came from Niagara residents, the Fowler Family Foundation and Medavie Health, she said.
Walk-in counselling for children, youths and their parents and caregivers is available Monday to Thursday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. (last appointment taken at 6 p.m.), and Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (last appointment taken at 3 p.m.)
Pathstone is located in the Branscombe Mental Health Centre, 1338 Fourth Ave. in St. Catharines.
No appointment is needed. The service is free, and no health card is required.
Pathstone Mental health is a community-based organization providing treatment to children in Niagara diagnosed with mental health issues.
While the clinic was able to expand by two days, it will require continued fundraising to keep the service, said Rossi.
Crisis services are offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 1-800-263-4944.
