Pedestrian struck in St. Catharines

A male pedestrian has been taken to hospital after a collision in downtown St. Catharines Thursday.

Niagara Regional Police are investigat­ing.

Police said officers went to the area of Court and Church streets at 11:47 a.m. for a pedestrian hit by a vehicle.

NRP spokespers­on Jesse Vujasic said a man was driving a black Chevrolet Cobalt when it struck a male pedestrian.

The pedestrian was transporte­d to a hospital outside the region with undetermin­ed injuries.

Police taped off the area for an investigat­ion.

The car could be seen on the grass with the front end against a tree on Court Street, between Church Street and Welland Avenue.
