Trio of distinctive guitars stolen from Hard Rock Club
Three distinctive guitars, including one autographed by members of Pink Floyd, have been stolen from a theme club in Niagara Falls.
On Sunday, shortly after 10 a.m. a lone male was captured on surveillance video removing the guitars from a wall at the Hard Rock Club adjacent to the Hard Rock Cafe on Falls Avenue.
One guitar, a metallic white Stratocaster, is autographed by three members of Pink Floyd.
Also stolen was a green paisley Telecaster electric guitar from Guns N’ Roses and a red Fender Stratocaster used by Neil Young.
“They’re all original and they are priceless,” said Sarah Vazquez, spokesperson for Canadian Niagara Hotels, which runs the Hard Rock Cafe and the Hard Rock Club.
“We just want our memorabilia back.”
Hard Rock International has been collecting music and entertainment memorabilia for more than 45 years.
The collection began in 1971 after Eric Clapton donated a guitar to the first Hard Rock Cafe in London. A few weeks later, The Who’s Pete Townshend donated a guitar of his own.
The collection has since grown to more than 83,000 pieces worldwide. It is the largest private collection of rock memorabilia in the world.
Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
“These guitars are very unique and recognizable,” said Const. Jesse Vujasic.
“Therefore, we are asking members of the public to contact the Niagara Regional Police if they come across the guitars online or in pawnshops.”
The suspect is described as white, 30 to 40 years old, with a medium build and facial hair. He was wearing a black and white baseball cap, a black hoodie with a white logo of a kangaroo, black shorts and black and white Nike running shoes.
Anyone who may have information on the theft is asked by police to call 905-688-4111 ext. 2200.
