Aperson was airlifted to an outof-region hospital with lifethreatening injuries and a man is wanted after a shooting in Niagara Falls Saturday morning.

Niagara Regional Police said officers attended the area of Jepson Street and Crysler Avenue at about 9:52 a.m. for an assistance call.

Police said officers arrived on scene and saw a 25-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was last listed in stable condition.

Several people who live in the area told a reporter Saturday morning they did not hear or see anything, but noticed a report on Twitter that the incident involved a shooting victim.

A police spokesperson initially would not confirm whether the incident involved a shooting, noting it was in the early stages of being investigated, and that more information would be released “as we are able to, without interfering in the investigation.”

Jepson Street, between Crysler and Palmer avenues, was cordoned off with yellow police tape, with several cruisers in

the area.

Later in the day, the street was reopened, and the tape was moved to a small area on St. Clair Avenue, near Jepson Street.

Brad Walker, who lives at the corner of Jepson and Crysler, said he was walking his dog in the area at about 9:10 a.m. and came back at about 9:30 a.m. and didn’t see or hear anything suspicious.

He said it wasn’t until he saw a tweet at about 10 a.m. that emergency personnel were on scene at Jepson Street with a shooting victim that he looked outside and saw a police presence.

“Didn’t hear nothing … didn’t see anybody else,” said Walker.

Four other people who live in the area also said they didn’t hear or see anything before the arrival of police.

“We literally just opened the door to see all this,” said one woman. “We didn’t hear anything.”

Another woman said she saw police arriving in the area, followed by ambulances and then more police cruisers.

“I just live at the corner. We didn’t hear anything. My son was out shovelling the driveway and he heard nothing.”

In a press release issued late Sunday morning, police confirmed they are investigating a shooting and said detectives were able to identify a male suspect.

Nicholas Keighan-scordino, 23, of Niagara Falls, is wanted for discharging a firearm with intent; possession of a restricted firearm without a licence; two counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle; and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Police describe Keighan-scordino as six- foot- one, 150 pounds, slender, with short black hair and hazel eyes.

He was last seen in the area of Jepson Street and Crysler Avenue.

Police said Keighan-scordino is believed to be driving a 2016 grey Acura TLX, with Ontario licence plate No. CLFE275.

Police are warning the public to not approach the man, as he is considered armed and dangerous.

Police asked that anyone who resides in the area who has video footage, or vehicles with dash cams that may have been in the area between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Saturday, to review their video footage and contact detectives if they see anything suspicious.

Police ask asked anyone with information, who may have witnessed the incident, or had been in the area, to call them at 905-688-4111 ext. 1009315.
