St. Catharines company’s tables were valued at over $20,000

- BILL SAWCHUK

Niagara Regional Police detectives are asking for the public’s help in solving the theft of a series of custom tables from a business in the Bunting Road and Eastchester Avenue area of St. Catharines.

The theft occurred from Tattooed Concrete in early December 2020.

The business creates one-ofa-kind concrete tables and reported to police that they were stolen from the rear of their gated yard. The eight tables are valued at more than $20,000, a police press release said.

Dino Ceniccola, one of the owners, said the tables were expensive to produce. The designs are prototypes that aren’t commercially available to the public yet.

The company created them specifically for presentations

that are part of negotiations with bands like Kiss and the NHL and Major League Baseball organizations.

“Everybody is looking at the price and wondering why they are so expensive,” Ceniccola said. “They don’t realize these are one of a kind. They took a long time to make. When they go on sale to the public, they aren’t going to be that price.”

The tables may have been stolen sometime between Nov. 27 and Dec. 11, the police said.

“We approached Gene Simmons, and we made the Kiss prototypes especially for him,” Ceniccola said. “He’s seen them. His assistants tell us he loved them.

“COVID has kind of slowed things down, but we’ve been working on this for months. We

have been working on a contract with his lawyers, and I think we are almost there.”

The stolen tables are described as:

Two Kiss “End of The Road, World Tour” rectangle concrete tables, 60 by 18 inches.

Kiss “Destroyer” concrete end table, 20 inches.

Ying Yang “Fire and Ice” concrete pub table, 30 inches. á National Hockey League concrete pub table, 30 inches. á Major League Baseball concrete pub table, 30 inches.

The Tragically Hip rectangle concrete table 60 by 18 inches.

Faux stained glass rectangle concrete table, 60 by 18 inches.

Also stolen were a two-piece set of black cast-iron coffee table stands and a set of three black cast-iron pub table stands.

Ceniccola said Tattooed Concrete is planning to offer a reward for information that results in their return. The reward is a custom concrete table that includes personalized work with the design team, he said.

Ceniccola said the value is about $2,500.

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at 905-688-4111, ext. 1009628.

Members of the public can provide information on the thefts anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers of Niagara online or by calling 1-800-2228477.
