Canadian broadcasting legend Peter Mansbridge will share stories of extraordinary Canadians for a free webinar hosted by Brock University’s Goodman School of Business on Wednesday.

Mansbridge, the former anchor of “The National” on CBC, will join Goodman dean Andrew Gaudes for the Business Breathers webinar series, starting at 11 a.m.

The focus will be on Canadians who overcame adversity to make an impact on others.

Gaudes calls Mansbridge “one of Canada’s most respected journalists,” and feels his stories of “ordinary Canadians brought to extraordinary acts of courage, kindness and compassion” is an ideal way to start 2021.

Mansbridge last spoke in Niagara in 2015, when he was guest speaker for the Pathstone Foundation Hope Award Gala in Niagara Falls.

He retired from “The National” in 2017 after 30 years, winning 13 Gemini Awards along the way. In 2008, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada.

He has also been awarded 13 honorary doctorates.

Mansbridge currently hosts “The Bridge,” a weekly podcast exploring trends in journalism and politics. His most recent book, “Extraordinary Canadians: Stories From the Heart of Our Nation,” debuted on the Globe and Mail’s bestsellers list at No. 1 in November.

The Business Breather webinars feature discussions on leadership, management and innovation with industry and faculty experts. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Participants must register online, through which a confirmation email will provide a link to access the event.

Upcoming webinars include University Management in the Time of COVID with Brock provost and vice-president, academic, Lynn Wells (Jan. 27) and History or Retail: Would Anyone Go to a Store Again? with former Canada Post president Deepak Chopra (Feb. 24).
