NOTL family to appear on ‘Family Feud Canada’
Gaio family looking forward to watching episode that airs Monday night on CBC
Niagarans might be seeing some familiar faces on TV Monday night.
The Gaio family from Niagara-on-thelake will be appearing on “Family Feud Canada.”
Unknown to the rest of her family, Danielle Gaio signed up herself and Ryan, Sarah, Walter and Katherine for the show. She heard back a couple of months later, the family completed two auditions and were accepted.
She said it took about an hour to film their episode.
“Being there in the studio was exciting. Everything was bright,” she said, adding it was “really exciting” to meet the host, comedian Gerry Dee.
“Being there as a family and making it there to compete — it was a great experience,” said Danielle. “It was nice to represent Niagara-on-the-lake.”
Ryan agreed, saying being on the show with his family “made it at all the sweeter.” He said it all hit him when they walked out onto the set to begin filming.
“When you walk out it is brightly lit,” said Ryan. “It’s TV land. It felt like ‘Holy moley, we are doing this.’ ”
He said he will be a little nervous to watch the episode.
“So many people know about it. A lot of people are going to watch us,” he said.
Walter said the family will be seeing the episode for the first time along with everyone else.
He said taping was “quite a process” due to COVID-19, but the group was excited to be able to do it as a family.
“We always watched the American version of the show. We are hooked,” said Katherine. “We watch the show every single day. We cannot wait.
“We cannot believe we were on there.” “We are almost getting butterflies again,” said Walter.
The episode airs at 7:30 p.m. on CBC and CBC Gem.
