It is with deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father and husband in his home Friday January 22. He was lovingly cared for by his family and incredible caregivers in his final days. Beloved father of Billy and Cheryl (Gary) and devoted husband of Joyce (nee - Walters) for 65 years. Cherished Uncle to many nieces and nephews and Grandfather to Jack, Sydney, Holly and Nigel. He is survived by his sisters Mary and Sophie. Predeceased by his mother, father, sister Annie and brothers Alex, Mike and Nick. Bill was employed by General Motors for 37 years afterwhich he enjoyed 30 wonderful years of retirement. He lived his life with deep love and joy of family and appreciation of the simple pleasures of birdsong, farming, gardening and warm summer days swimming and lazing by his pool when he wasn't tinkering in his garage. He always had time to help anyone who asked. His kindness and generosity knew no limits. He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. We would like to thank all of his caregivers especially Luz, Angelo and Ziggy who were so gentle and compassionate. Also, the palliative care team, Ari, Merrick and Alex who were so very helpful and made it possible for him to be cared for at home, which was his wish. We would also like to thank Mathew at LHIN who took care of all our needs. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Association or the charity of your choice. There will be a private family memorial service on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. The Grishkewich family will be holding a celebration of Bill's life at a later date when the weather is warmer. Please visit the George Darte Web Memorial and our family would welcome shared memories as we reflect on the legacy of love, generosity, kindness and always sharp humour that Bill leaves.
