Peacefully on Friday, January 22nd at Tabor Manor at the age of 84. Cherished father of David, Danny (Donna) and Michelle. Much loved grandfather of Jessica (Alex), Lucas, Matthew, Cidney, Kyle and Alicia. Brother to Reina, Beth, Vic, Gilberte, Ray and Annette. Also survived by son Mark, the extended Gauvreau family and many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Helen (nee Williamson) Gauvreau, sisters Violet, Rita, Delores and his brothers Wilfred, Oscar, Joe, Bill and Ben.

Dad worked as a General Supervisor at the GM engine plant for 33 years and was a president of the Club La Salle and team captain of their cribbage team. Roger and his family went on many trips and created beautiful, funny memories that they will cherish forever. Dad always had a smile on his face but he would positively beam when asked if he wanted to play "Let It Ride".

Dad loved being surrounded by friends and family at the family cottage. "Chico" as he was lovingly nicknamed by his siblings, loved to play cards and it didn't matter if the game was euchre, cribbage or pass the ace. It only mattered to dad that he could share the moments with family and friends. Dad enjoyed spinning the ladies on the dance floor and his footwork could also be found on the volleyball court.

Dad will also be missed by the tremendous staff and residents at Tabor Manor. Our entire family extend our deep heartfelt appreciation to the amazing staff that supported dad through the most difficult stages of his unwinnable battle with dementia. Their dedication continued to be greatly valued during his battle with COVID-19.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and arrangements are entrusted to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. Due to the current restrictions, a celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date, when everyone will be welcome. If desired, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
