PROBE INTO NOVA SCOTIA WIND TURBINE COLLAPSE UNDERWAY
Two separate investigations have been launched into the collapse of an 80-metre wind turbine in Cape Breton. Montreal-based Enercon Canada Inc. said it collapsed on Aug. 17 when a component was being replaced. No one was injured, but Enercon said the turbine was evacuated before the collapse at its Point Tupper wind farm, near Port Hawkesbury. The company’s German parent has installed nearly 1,000 wind turbines in seven provinces in the past 15 years and says this is the first time one has collapsed.
