Police accuse man of sexually abusing children

Greater Sudbury Police have charged a 60-year-old man with historical sexual violence-related crimes involving children.

In a release issued Friday, police said they have identified three survivors and there are concerns that there may be others.

Marcel Armstrong was arrested and charged with the following criminal offences related to people under the age of 18:

■ sexual assault;

■ publicatio­n of intimate images without consent;

■ two counts of voyeurism;

■ possession of child pornograph­y;

■ making, printing, publishing or possessing child pornograph­y for the purpose of publicatio­n;

uttering threats to cause bodily harm; and

■ breach of firearms regulation-storage of a firearm or restricted weapon.

A publicatio­n ban has been issued in relation to the investigat­ion, police said, so it no further details will be provided.

Police ask that if you have any informatio­n related to this incident or person, to contact them at 705675-9171. If you have experience­d a sexual assault, police said there are various options for reporting the incident(s) to police when you are ready to do so. In the case of an emergency, if you are in danger or need medical assistance or if the incident just took place/the person responsibl­e is nearby, call 911 immediatel­y.

“We know that this is a very difficult time for survivors and we want to provide you with the assistance, resources and support that you require,” police said.
